Barton School of Business AGH Scholarship Competitions

The Barton School of Business at Wichita State invites high school seniors to participate in the Allen, Gibbs, and Houlik (AGH) Scholarship Competition. Participating students are eligible to be awarded the $50,000 Clay Barton Business Scholarship to study business at Wichita State. Students majoring in entrepreneurship will have the opportunity to compete for an additional scholarship, the Professor Fran Jabara Endowed Scholarship which awards two $32,700 scholarships to incoming students majoring in entrepreneurship.

To be eligible to compete, you must:

1. Be a 2024 high school graduate
2. Submit Wichita State admission application materials
3. Meet ONE of the following criteria:
   • Have a minimum unweighted 3.5 GPA, or
   • Have a minimum ACT composite score of 27, or
   • Have a minimum SAT composite of 1280, or
   • Rank in the top 10 percent of your class at the end of your junior year
4. Major in one of Wichita State's ten undergraduate business programs
   • Students majoring in entrepreneurship will be eligible to compete for the Professor Fran Jabara Endowed Scholarship as well as for the Clay Barton Scholarship.

Scholarship materials deadline: Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023 by 11:59 p.m. CST

Competition Information
Date: Friday, Nov. 17, 2023
Location: Woolsey Hall, Wichita State Main Campus

All students who apply for the AGH Scholarship Competition can participate. Students must be physically present on-campus for the competition on Nov. 17 to be considered for the scholarships. There will be no virtual option.

Sessions (choose one): AM Session (8 to 11 a.m.) or PM Session (1 to 4 p.m.)

Each session will consist of a group activity and an individual activity. 

For entrepreneurship majors: Interviews for the Jabara Scholarship will take place between 11:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. on Nov. 17. Students should be prepared to stay late (if participating in the morning session of AGH) or to arrive early (if participating in the afternoon session of AGH).

• Essay Question #1 - Why is an education in entrepreneurship important to you? How will you use this education? For example, will you launch a new venture or carry the entrepreneurial mindset into your career?
• Essay Question #2 - Sharing intellectual interests is an important aspect of university life. Describe an experience or idea that you find intellectually stimulating and explain why.
